His/Hers

AN IBOOK ON MY FATHER'S BATTLE WITH PARKINSON'S

Role: Copywriting, Art Direction, UI/UX

In 2004, my father was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.

HIS/HERS is an iBook that documents my parents' relationship through the course of his deterioration.

INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE
Showing two sides of the story

Often enough, patients aren't the only ones who struggle. Caretakers also bear the brunt.

To show the tandem relationship between my mother and father, the story follows a parallel narrative structure, allowing users to see both perspectives.

ART DIRECTION
To break away from the clinical aesthetic usually associated with diseases, personal items such as old photographs and letters were used.

NARRATIVE DEVICES
Narrative devices such as objects, letters, and maps were used to contain bite-sized anecdotes.
Readers can choose the nodes they want to expand.
